Riga is Latvia's capital, with a dense historic centre, wide apartment districts, house neighbourhoods, office centres, and industrial areas — and moving looks different in each of them. In Old Town and Centre's Art Nouveau and pre-war stone buildings you often have to deal with narrow stairwells, limited access, and a shortage of parking. In Soviet-era microdistricts — Purvciems, Pļavnieki, Ziepniekkalns, Imanta — apartment buildings dominate, where lift access and courtyard access are the key factors. In outlying neighbourhoods with houses, such as Mežciems, Dārzciems, or Trīsciems, vehicle access is usually simpler, but distance and route still need their own planning.

In Old Town and Centre, narrow streets, parking restrictions, and buildings without a lift call for more careful planning.
In Purvciems, Pļavnieki, Imanta — lifts are usually present, but courtyard access can be limited.
In Mežciems, Dārzciems, and elsewhere — simpler vehicle access, but a larger volume of belongings and outdoor items.
In Ķīpsala, Zaķusala, and elsewhere near the water, expect bridge traffic and specific access conditions.
